What This Knife Is Built For
The Mountain Caper 2.0 is a compact fixed blade for caping, precision work and small-game processing. At 19.5 g (knife only), it slips through lips, ears and the nose with ease and adds almost nothing to your pack.

Why the Blade Geometry Matters
The 2.75 in CPM MagnaCut blade has a fine point and an edge tuned to a true arc, at 0.080 in thick. Full jimping and a refined sharpening choil keep control where the cuts get tight, and weight relief in the blade and handle keep it light.
Why Choose It
It’s a specialist, not a replacement for a full-size hunting knife, so most hunters carry it alongside an Ovis Hunter or Mouflon Skinner. Choose it over the scalpel models if you want a fixed blade with nothing to swap.

Being a professional guide and a son of a ranch butcher, I've skinned a lot of animals and a knife that can hold a sharp edge is a must. I've used many brands of knives and Kestrel Knives are the only one I've found that can hold a sharp edge the longest. I bought my first EDC about 3 years ago and skinned 2 elk and a 1,200 lbs buffalo with it so far and still haven't had to use my wet stone to resharpen it.

What a great knife. These are the lightest weight knives I’ve ever seen and truly a necessity for the backcountry hunter.

The trip was amazing, man. I live in northern BC, Fort Nelson, a couple hours’ drive and 5 of our horses. 20 km trip into base camp, and day rides from there. 9 days on horses, 180+ km between boots and horseback. On the 7th day I shot my ram.The knife was amazing. My dad had his Havalon and I had my Kestrel. His Havalon handle snapped on him, and we finished the caping with my Kestrel
