Kestrel Knives Lifetime Warranty
We build Kestrel knives to be used, and we stand behind the craftsmanship of every knife we make.
Kestrel Knives are covered by a Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for the functional lifetime of the knife.
What Our Lifetime Warranty Covers
Our Lifetime Warranty covers manufacturing defects or failures resulting from the materials or workmanship of the knife under normal, intended use.
If we determine that your knife has a manufacturing defect, Kestrel will, at our discretion, repair or replace the knife at no charge.
What Is Not Covered
Our Lifetime Warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, abuse, improper maintenance, modification, accidents, or using the knife for a purpose it was not designed for.
Examples of damage that are not considered manufacturing defects include:
* Prying
* Batoning
* Using the knife as a screwdriver, chisel, punch, or similar tool
* Throwing the knife
* Intentional or excessive impact
* Improper sharpening or modification
* Damage caused by neglect, corrosion, or improper storage
* Damage resulting from use beyond the intended purpose of the specific knife
Different Kestrel knives are designed for different purposes. A failure caused by using a knife outside of its intended application is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Broken or Damaged Tips
We understand that knives get used hard in the field.
A broken or damaged tip caused during use is generally not considered a manufacturing defect. However, whenever possible, Kestrel will repair and reprofile a damaged tip free of charge to return the knife to safe, functional use.
Depending on the extent of the damage, the repaired blade may have a slightly different blade profile or reduced overall length.
If the knife cannot reasonably or safely be repaired, we will contact you to discuss available options.
Warranty Inspection
In most cases, we must physically inspect the knife before determining whether an issue qualifies for warranty coverage.
Customers requesting warranty service will be required to ship the knife to Kestrel Knives for inspection. Photos may help us evaluate an issue initially, but they may not be sufficient to make a final warranty determination.
Once inspected, we will determine whether the issue is:
* A manufacturing defect covered by the Lifetime Warranty
* Damage that can be repaired or reprofiled
* Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, modification, or use outside the knife’s intended purpose
Repair or Replacement
Kestrel Knives reserves the right to determine whether a qualifying warranty claim will be repaired or replaced.
Replacement products may not be identical to the original knife if that model, steel, finish, handle material, color, or configuration is no longer available. In those cases, we may provide a comparable replacement at our discretion.
Our Lifetime Warranty applies to the knife itself and does not guarantee replacement for normal cosmetic wear or changes that naturally occur through use.
Normal Wear
Kestrel knives are tools, and signs of use are expected.
Normal wear and cosmetic changes—including scratches, finish wear, sharpening marks, discoloration, and other cosmetic wear that does not affect the safe function of the knife—are not considered manufacturing defects.
Shipping Your Knife
Do not send a knife without following our current warranty return instructions.
Knives must be packaged securely and shipped in accordance with all applicable carrier requirements. Kestrel Knives is not responsible for knives that are lost or damaged while being shipped to us.
Warranty coverage is determined after inspection by Kestrel Knives.
