Yes. Any Kestrel knife can be mailed to us for free sharpening as often as you’d like. You just cover return shipping. To start, add the Knife Sharpening product (hyper link) to your cart and check out. We’ll get your edge back to factory sharp and return it ready for the next season.
We recommend maintaining your edge with light stropping and occasional touch-ups using a fine stone or ceramic rod. For full resharpening, send it our way our team will handle it properly.
No problem. Soak the blade in white vinegar for about ten minutes, then scrub lightly with a sponge. Always dry your knife fully after cleaning, and occasionally wipe it down with food-grade oil to keep corrosion away.
All three are excellent steels—each with its own strengths.
MagnaCut is the newest all-around performer with a balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance.
S90V offers extreme wear resistance and long edge life but takes more effort to sharpen.
Nitro-V is the easiest to maintain, with great edge stability and rust resistance, ideal for wet or humid environments.
We use only the best-performing steels available. Our current production models feature MagnaCut, S90V, and Nitro-V, depending on the design and intended use.
Titanium doesn’t hold an edge on its own, so each Ti knife is carbidized with tungsten carbide on one side. This creates micro-serrations that cut cleanly through soft materials like meat, cardboard, or rope.
The carbided layer is deep and durable thanks to our industrial process.
Tips:
• Ti edges perform best with draw cuts
• They’re not ideal for cutting hide
• Only sharpen the non-carbided side
We’re slowly moving away from titanium blades due to low demand, but we’ll continue sharpening and servicing all previous models.
